Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) Prep

You should not eat or drink anything, including water, for eight hours prior to your procedure. You should not take any aspirin or ibuprofen products for five days before the procedure. On the morning of your test, take only medication for your heart or blood pressure with a sip of water at least two hours before your procedure.

Our staff will give you specific instructions about adjustments that need to be made to your medications prior to your procedure. If you are a diabetic and on insulin, we request that you ask your Primary Care Physician about your insulin instructions prior to your procedure. If you are taking blood thinners (Coumadin, Plavix, Warfarin, etc.) we will discuss these medications with your doctor and inform you of any special instructions that will need to be followed.

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please call our office at least 24 hours in advance.
